I read Sunghun's story"Go Buckeyes" , this is a interesting story with deep buckeye style. The football can be a symbol of OSU, when there is a football game, everyone is red,at first i was confuse about why whey are so excited. Soon i found out it's their love, so many people love football, also it's buckeye's honor.I want to know the process of entering and going out. because there is too many people.
another one i read is "A Trip of Shanghai World Expo” As a chinese i know expo is a huge project。I have been there about half year ago, many subjects record in Yixue's blog was ever in my eye. Expo is really beautiful, through Yixue's blog, i have that strong feeling again.blog 2 by zhipeng
I have a planed to go with other 18 students to OUS and i meet them at airport. When i entered the waiting room, the stuff didn't allow me in. they said that i have to show my "HK permit". I show my passport to them but they said it's useless. When i enter HK, i use the "HK permit" to enter and after that my parents said when a enter the airport the passport is enough so they took away my HK permit. What's more, there is only one phone can be used in hongkong, and i carry it. when i rush out of the waitting room, my parents already gone. There is no choice for me except putting off my trip. after that i sent message to my parents, when they cellphone can use their saw my message and sent my HK permit back, finally i could get on plane.

When I decided to study in American, I knew that there will be lots of challenges waiting for me. I tried to prepare for all of that, but when those troubles shocked my life, I realized that I can never prepare for everything.
The first trouble arrived when I was in HONGKONG airport, which might be the biggest problem I have ever met yet. When I entered HONKKONG,I used my “Permit for Proceeding to Hong Kong and Macau” which is commonly known as “two-way exit permit” to get the permission. But before I entered the airport my father told me passport is enough , so they took away my two-way exit permit. But what happened next proved that my father was wrong. The staff said I must show my HK permit, because only the permit can prove how I entered HK. When I got out of the airport, my parents had left. What’s more, there was only one phone which could be used in HK, unfortunate, I carried it but my parents didn’t .Thus there was no chance for me to get in touch with my parents in time. The only choice left was putting off my trip and sending a message to my parent to make sure they knew what happened to me When my parents got out of HONGKONG they saw the short message I left for them several hours later. They sent my permit back so I successfully caught the next day’s airplane.
After arriving at OSU, everything was unfamiliar. even eating in osu restaurant was different. I didn’t know I should handle the things left after finishing my meals, I didn't know what exactly the food is and what name it is, didn’t know what I took back from Target was coffee beans instead of soluble coffee. I didn’t know how to enter the morrill tower when there are two huge travelling bags with me.
But all of above wasn't a big deal. What was really a big deal is adjusting to the food. Since I arrived, I had diarrhea for more than two weeks. After two week’s suffering, I decided to make food by myself. I bought an electric cooker, rice vegetable, noodles, meat, and made food by myself. I learned how to make food on internet and it did work. In fact it was my first time to make food, so it doesn’t taste good, but my upset stomach went away. After I had so much experience in cooking, I held a dinner party which served several chafing dish. Many Chinese came to my room and tasted my food, which made me feel proud.
Another thing that drove me crazy was my chemistry lab! I dropped the GEO 200 to take my CHE121 class, so I miss the first chemistry lab class! Then I found how many things I have missed. My TA told me I should go to the CHE 1000 room. I needed my TA’s signature to set up an account and then I can enter the CHE 1000 to see some safe video after that, but my TA was not on work hours, I went straight to the CHE1000 room for help and another TA said he can sign his name for me so I finally can get the video. After that I was given a drawer, which was the last one of my laboratory. When I found it, there was no lock on it. I had to get my TA’s permission which can prove I need a lock. And this time, other TA’s permission doesn’t work. So I got my lock 2day after that when I sew my TA.
It was just an short time after arriving here but I know this story will continue for a long time in the future and I will try my best to make it wonderful.

In the article “Cheating Across Cultures”,the writer discribe many things which was the turth in my opinion。In fact in china, copy the original text is important way to show our respect to the resource. For this reason, we recite lots of article and inthis way to show the respect。What‘s more, recite all article seems more important than get the idea。But when i came to US,i was told that it’s plagiarism, that turth really shock me。i realize that the culture background it's really a big problem for our international students. If we don't pay much more attention to this, we might be assumed plagiarism.

Another interesting question is:"In your 108 course, you are asked to write a research paper. You are new in the field, and much of what you know is from textbooks. This information is called common knowledge, and you don't know if you are supposed to cite it."we are fresh men, so we might face this problem in real world. in fact in china those knowledge be use in any place withour citing, because it's common knowledge, it's just in the book, teacher know where it's, so we don't matk it. but in here, that would be plagiarism, because it has copyright.if i don't do this question, i might be assumed plagiarizing.

Intellectual property is also a big problem for me. i found some really good picture.but when i found it,i didn't record the website i found it.when i do the final step i discover it.i try to found it again but i fail. So i have to change the picture. through this DTS, i Know how to quote the resource, and in fact it's the first time i make something with copyright.

After finishing the video, I started to write the credits which focuses on the citation of the resources used in my digital story. I downloaded several images and music from Internet to diversify and perfect my story. With the learning of this course, I have had a sense of intellectual property which contains various types such as words, ideas protected by regulations and laws. When using others’ own ideas, words and even music and images, we have to cite them. Otherwise, the work may be accused of plagiarism. Thus, at the end of my video, I made a reference list to cite the sources of the downloaded images and music I used in my digital story. It is not only a way to conform to the norms but also a way to show the respect of the original author.

When I heard we are going to make a DST I was excited to make a DST. But as the quarter passed we were told to make a script of our Digital Story. Firstly I was very confused which topic I need to choose. Considering it as a long time first I thought I would describe my hometown. But I did not have the enough pictures to describe it. So I chose I would choose my topic as my life and life experience, which I have experienced. After submitting the script of the digital story we were told to record our digital story in our voice. I had some problem with the recording because I usually speak English very fast so the length of the voice was very short so I re-recorded my voice. And then we were told to make a digital story by combining our pictures and our voice. In this class I learned new software named imovie. It was a good experience to learn new software. And at the end of the quarter we had a presentation of showing out DST to our class. And with the DST project going on we used to write blogs and also used to summarize the article given by the professor.
We need to be careful to use the material, which I used to make my DST. I downloaded picture, and I cited them to protect the intellectual property. Thus I would say we need to fulfill our responsibility of citing the sources. As the material is available from the Internet, we need to cite the source so the author gets proper credits for his work.

I made my digital story by following steps: selecting what kind of topic to write down, writing the script to recite, collect the pictures and music which suit to my story, combining the pictures, music and the recited story to form the video clip, then put the reference list in the end of the story. I found that selecting the picture for DST is the most interesting step because I remembered some portion of my trip to Philippine, while reciting the story script is the most difficult part for me because of the hardness to pronounce English in the right way. I spend almost an hour to record it.
When the video clip is created to provide the idea or experience, it is very important to ponder the purpose of the products the creator has. For example, a student is about to use a music which was composed for commercial, or to earn money, s/he must purchase it to use in the story. If s/he used the music without paying money, it should be punished even if the reference list was shown. In this course, I got not only how to make a simple video clip and the website providing copy right free materials, but also how to use intellectual property in a right way.

Blog #8 Digital Storytelling and Academic Writing
One of the similarity of digital story telling and writting is being careful about the intellectual property usage.
Cite the resouces of all the pictures which does not belong to you and make a reference list to show the original resource. I downloaded several pictures from the internet, and I gave each picture a website to let the audience know the source I used, in order to protect the intellectual property of the picture. The process of making this video let me learn that anything which helps to support your idea is free to use only when you cite the source.

In today’s English class, our Teacher Benson let us show everyone’s Digital story and I think everyone does a good job. Though doing this digital storytelling, I learn a lot of things like how to use audacity and movie maker, and copyright. At first, we make an out line about our DST and then write a whole DST essay. Afterward, we did the most interesting and important part of the process, go to the digital studio and do the recording. I practice lots of times and when I go into the studio, I still feel nervous. But after I try it for a few times, my voice becomes better. When I finish my recording and go out of the studio, I feel a little giddy because I reading a lot and lacking of the oxygen. After that, I edit it and then collect some of the pictures from my hard dish and search other pictures and the music online, at the same, note down the website of the pictures and background music. In the end, I put the pictures, recording, and music together in the movie maker and export it with the WMV format. I think the most difficult and challenge part is editing the recording and using the movie maker. It is hard to use the movie maker and audacity because if you make a little mistake, you have to do a lot of work to correct it. But after I practiced it, I make it more perfect.
Though doing DST, I found that intellectual property is a very important thing in US. I need to note down the website of every picture and music I download online and paste it to my DST. Also, I first use the “creative commons” in my works. If I am not doing this, I will infringe the intellectual property, so it is very important.

The most important step for every essay or story is citing the sources. Personally, I got many pictures from Google and I put the references at the end of my story. Before this class if I picked any picture or music I don't cite the Web site because of the different cultures around the world. I consider that a good thing since others worked and they don't need others to take their work without giving them credits

For this project, I use the image which founded on the internet. At first, I do not think about credit to cite the image, because images on the internet are common and used by many people. However, after I leaned plagiarism, I understand that illegally using images also kind of plagiarism. This is because, the Image have intellectual property likewise writing, so when I use images which is not mine, I should cite the images.

Most of those photos are mine. Just 3 of pictures have been downloaded from the internet. However, I still need to be careful to cite the resources in the last page, even no body will charge me. I want to follow the western world’s rule. It’s good for my future study. It’s a good experience.

During the process of making my digital story, I learned how to use MLA style to cite my intellectual property correctly. I use MLA style to cite my sources since high school, but I always confuse about which one should go first, and I forget to put them in alphabet order all the time. I downloaded music and few pictures from the internet and know how to make a good reference on my work after this assignment. It was a helpful assignment for me to learn having originality but also follow copyrights and use the right technology to give credit.

story .What i need to say and what kinds of photos i need to put on
it .At the time i write my outline .I put my memory together into a
story .By the way ,I enjor the time on organize the memory. At that
time ,i feel more about my lifetime. One years ago ,i just a little
boy sit in classroom ,But now i'm a freshman of ohio state. I will
never forget what's happen in this year. Then i'm ready to search the
photo in website or my own photos. That is the most interesting thing
is search photos.Because i have a long time not see my photos, that
can help me to awaken recollection with my firends. The next step is
make a movie .I think that part is the most challenging step for me
.I really have no idea how to put music in it .I follow the way that
teacher teach me .But it still not work.I think DST is focus on
personal story, but academic essay is more serious than DST.People
can tell their own story in DST,But the arguement point is necessary
in academic essay .
In my DST,i make a list of the website where i download in
internet. I respect the intellectual property.I have learn lot in
this class ,and i know how important that i use citaion in paper.

I like Digital Story telling project, because it is new experience for me, it’s not academic, let me remember old happy days and force me to learn a new application on my Mac which is iMovie. Because I have traveled to Auckland, New Zealand, so I didn’t have difficulties to get picture for my project and the picture from the web was from google.com, which allow us to search fast whatever we are looking for. I was interested in telling my story in attracting the attention of watchers; therefore, I rewrote my story several times. The challenge was how to combine the picture I have to fit with my story and find good picture from the Internet fit to my story also. There are many similar aspects between writing an academic essay and DST. First of all, the transaction in the DST is movement and in writing it is words. Second, avoid plagiarism in both of them. The different is DST is alive and writing is boring.
To avoid plagiarism in DST is very easy because you create your own ideas and story from your mind. I used some picture from the Internet and it is not mine so put the like for the picture to have the permission to use the picture. I learned to give credit to the owner of the things. We have learned a lot of plagiarism rules; therefore, it was easier for me to avoid it in DST.

This video digital story project is kind of free assignment that we can create and appear our feelings and thinkings without limiting rules, but it requires students to use intellectual property to avoid plagiarism and academic misconduct. We have been learning academic misconduct and plagiarism since long time ago. We should used intellectual property at the end of this project. I used lots of pictures from internet sites, not from my own picture. It means I required to write reference resources to complete this project without any misconduct or against academic rules. I almost used over 25 pictures from internet. Mostly, I did reference resources and posted at the end of the video except few pictures. While I was doing this project, I realized that I should do posting or writing copywrite not only when I write essay and writing assignment, but also when I do video project and any other project if I use resources from internet, book, or even other people's opinions. As a result, I learned a lot of things again, and this project remind me again to do reference resources!

While I work digital story, I could not ignore without license even if it was really good picture or music. The things I have been studying is about plagiarism and forbidden copying from other's work. Also, I have learned a lof of using intellectual property that I should not plow with other people's work like put a comment or credit for distinguishing the copyright. Althought copying a work without obtaining permission may appear to be an easy way to accomplish the work, but such unauthorized copying can frequently viloate the right of the author or publisher of the copyrighted work.

Then, in a second paragraph, discuss what aspects of intellectual property usage you have to consider in the process. What did you learn about the use of intellectual property from this process?

Through those ten questions about plagiarism. The first question and the second question are pretty interesting me because I always confuse about the common knowledge and what is wrong in rewriting my old paper or copying the sentences from my own paper. The first question asks me that I found out I had a same assignment as last time. And it was a longer paper than last time. So if I added a few sentences from my old paper, was I plagiarizing from myself? What I would do for that? I chose to ask the teacher whether I can revise my old paper and got permission from the teacher that I would not get in trouble for doing that. I used to don’t think that much about plagiarism. I don’t think copy the sentences from my own work is plagiarism. Because it is my own work, it is written by me, why I can’t put my old opinion to the paper. But I realized that I don’t learn anything from just copy the old sentences and put them into my longer paper. I should be respect to my assignment and my instructors, because the purposes of the assignments are made for helping me to think and learn.
For the second question, it is about whether we should cite the common knowledge or not. I have a similar experience when I was in high school. I just learn about breast cancer during the class, and we need to make a presentation for that. But all I knew about the information of breast cancer are all from the textbook. So I didn’t put any reference and citation in the end of my PowerPoint. I was assuming everybody knows where were those information came from. But I got a warning from my teacher said even it was from textbooks, they still need to be cited. Those two questions attracted me when I first read this tutorial. It was a challenge for me to adapt to plagiarism when I was in high school, but I am glad that I learned those from my high school.

should you cite it or not? I undoubtedly thought it is no but the answer was Yes. " the reason was common knowledge" is like any different sort of knowledge, so you have to cite it. I was really surprised because in Korea, plagiarism is usually about only the others by implication. when you write an essay from books, you don't need to cite the source. Korean thinks it is okay because "common knowledge" is prevailed information.
In this question, the answer is totally different from Korea. It is so lucky that i know about citing "common knowledge" before i do a mistake in any writing. It can be an issue in my school work. If i didn't know it, i would do as same style in Korea then i did a plagiarism unintentionally.
Another question that i was surprised is question number 4. it is about the group work. it says if one of your members gave you an good idea, what are you doing? the answer is you have to indicate the source. it was really interesting answer for me too. i thought since it is 'group' work, individual can be ignored but it was not. you have to express the source even though it is group project. i learned from this that if i am not sure about the plagiarism, I'd better cite it and there are many differences between my home country, Korea and America so i should learn them and understand them.

The Online tutorial, which is created by Dr. Bloch, is very helpful in understanding plagiarism. This tutorial is very good source of information for me because it helped me understanding properly the rules of plagiarism and how should I work in order to prevent plagiarism. With the help of this tutorial it describes different situation in front of student and it would help student to understand the rules of plagiarism properly. I found question 3 and 4 interesting. In question 3 Dr Bloch has proposed a scene in which a student found reference of the article but he is not able to find the book in which the article is stated so what should the student do does he need to cite the author or not. I would say that the student should not use the article because he is not able to find the book and if he has not read the book then there might be some ethical issues. And he would not give a proper idea about the book. The student should search for the book and if he gets the book then only he should use the idea or else he should use another idea. In question 4, I would say if you are given a opportunity to discuss about an issue before writing an essay then the whole group would discuss ideas and it would lead into reoccurring of ideas in the essay of that particular group members. The reason why I can use the ideas it is that the purpose of group discussion was that to discuss the ideas with each other. Thus the conclusion given by that particular group is going to come same. And if a student can’t do this then what was the reason for sharing the ideas in a group before writing the essay.
Thus I would say that the tutorial created by Dr. Bloch is very helpful for me, as it has helped me in understanding the proper rules of plagiarism.
