Blog #8(The last one?) Junghyun Hong

When I heard that I need to make my DST in this quarter, I was glad because I already had a good subject to write and show to others. It was the mission trip to Costa-Rica during last summer break. I don’t need to try to remember old memories and to find old pictures. My story was about just 2month ago and I had brought my digital camera to mission-trip, so, I had all of pictures. Also, I already experienced to make a movie about the trip somewhat similar DST for presentation to church people (It wasn’t same. My DST isn’t plagiarized one.) So, I chose favorite pictures and wrote the story with my fresh memory. However, when I tried to write the script, It was hard to organize whole story to 5 minutes long. I had to choose which stories are put in and out. When I wrote it first, it was 7 minutes long story, so, I had to draw out minor stories. However, after drawing out, my story became a short but clear. I felt that DST script is little different with an academic essay. When I wrote it, I don’t need to worry plagiarism because DST is about my experience. Overall, making DST was interesting and I think it is a good chance to show my experience.

I felt that I have to be careful when I use other’s intellectual property like pictures and songs. Even though DST is based on my story, I needed other’s sources to make my DST. Also, I needed to make reference list; Song’s name and the source of pictures. These things were wired because most of all universities in Korea don’t think using other’s sources for non-profit work. From this DST assignment, I realize that every what I make and send should include references and I have to concern other’s intellectual properties.
