In the Digital story “ Oxford English Dictionary” by Anna Field. Here the author introduces his story in a good sentence she says, “ Letter makes words and word makes language”. She describes the making of Oxford dictionary was started in 1854 and it is still going on. She uses the pictures of letters to describe how the dictionary was made. And how much hard work was done to make the dictionary. In addition to that, she points out that how the words of English have been transferred from England to Atlantic. A 12,000 quotations were made in the dictionary, after a long work by the people a 1.8 million quotations were made on a separate sheet of paper. These quotations were bundled together and were sent from England to Atlantic by mail, some in baby beds and picnic baskets. When these alphabets reached to Atlantic these were separated in alphabetic letters. Then these letters were filled until definitions were not written. A lot number of editions were made and a third edition was released that is online. A 1.5 million words are there in the third edition.

The best part of the Digital Story is that it is well described. Moreover the language that is spoken in clearly understood. The speaker has used images to describe how dictionary was made and also how the letters were transferred from England to Atlantic. She also describes how difficult and a long lasting process was it is to make a dictionary.
