The obligation of men citizen in South Korea

Hi, my name is Chanho Park, from South Korea. I would like to talk about my army life in old days. In the usual, when it comes to thing about army would be strange and unwelcome to other people but it was special to me. In South Korea, every men citizen should be obligated to do attend a military service for 2 years. However, there is a law which is not required joined the army such as disabled or abnormity person. In spite of this system, some handicapped people willing to volunteer the army in easy military duty in order to undertake the obligation of protect nation. When is my age almost come to enter the military, I really worried about my life in army. This is because; changing all environments around me at one time is makes freaking me out. Also, I worried whether I could be doing work well in army or not. Despite of these minds, I entered in army on around end of 2006 which is very chilly days. I was arranged into the riot police camp which is suppressing a demonstration or keeping the public peace.

The opening part of riot police life was really harder than I thought. However, I realized getting over in sensitive manner and keep the strict rule in army was not only bad to me. At that time, I could learn about real attitude to boss or procedure. Also, I got an honor of my working with strong pride. There were tons of things I should do in army camp. First of all, I should have always hard training for put down a protest. This is kind of very sensitive things on democracy manner, so it also required the deepest mind control of itself. To me, the most difficult ground rule is that I must not do anything to demonstrators such as controlling behavior of them or deter their body before any captain’s order even if in dangerous situation. It could be getting result into injury or bone fracture from sliding over the demonstrator’s parade. After finished all protest, I could go back to camp and take a rest. The most impressive part I felt was that military predecessors and crews are console their hurt or gloomy mind each other and cover their mistake or miss behaviors with having fun time after the duty. Besides, as getting passed time, I felt that the army camp is like my house which is most comfortable shelter in the world. Spending two years in strange place with strange people would be not good itself, but I want to say strong mind control can do any control the hard time, not only in the army but also in every work in social or special organization.
