Memory pieces from HongKong

My digital Storytelling is some of my memory pieces from Hong Kong. I attended in the SAT exam in December 2009. Taking of this opportunity, I have a trip to Hong Kong. That was a wonderful and remarkable experience because this experience let me comprehend the history and background of Hong Kong and feel the blending of different cultures. Furthermore, Hong Kong is Asia's most prosperous city and an international financial center; it has almost the lowest tariff and cheapest luxury in the world. All of those things made me very excited.

Hong Kong is one of the most important parts of China. It was occupied by British over one half century. It returned to the motherland on July 1, 1997. But what I have seen most of the ruins of war have been replaced by modern buildings. Hong Kong developed very fast since it returned, meanwhile there are a lot of different cultures blending at here. When I was standing in Hong Kong’s downtown, I could see the different people from different places, most of them are Chinese, British, American, Indian and some other Asian; and I also can hear the people specking Cantonese, English and mandarin. You can see there are many people with different skin color and feel the different cultures blending at here. So I said that travelling to Hong Kong is a remarkable experience.

Hong Kong is also a very, very beautiful city and festival city. It developed very fast and I can see the modern edifices. At night, when I came to the Victoria Harbor, I saw the most beautiful light show in this harbor. There are many different kinds of colors of light shows on the edifice at edge of the beach and flickers with the different music rhythm and those scenes were really very shocking. And in Hong Kong, it has both western festival and eastern festival. When I came here, it was near the Christmas and I can see Christmas trees and Santa Claus everywhere. Especially in Disneyland, it is full of enjoyment. Everywhere you can see the people wearing masks and joining in some very breathtaking games. All of them were very happy at the carnival and those scenes made me feel a very strong festive atmosphere. And at night, when I came to the Victoria Harbor, I saw the most beautiful light show in this harbor. There are many different kinds of colors of light shows on the edifice at edge of the beach and flickers with the different music rhythm and those scenes were really very shocking.

There are some other very important reasons I am attracted to Hong Kong are almost the lowest tariff and cheapest luxury in the world and the delicious snacks from around the world. Because of Hong Kong’s economic reputation, it has free trade, low taxes and less government intervention. They never impose tariffs on other import items except alcohol, tobacco and petrol. So that’s why so many people would like to go shopping at Hong Kong, they can buy the cheapest perfume, jewelry and some luxury at here. I bought a perfume I like best there and the price is only a quarter of it in my hometown. In any large streets or small lanes, there are many different kinds of snack bars that sell very fresh and delicious food and drinks, you can taste acid sweet salty pungent and all kinds of Chinese food, Indian food, Italy food and fast food.

These are my comprehending and feeling of Hong Kong by this travelling. Hong Kong is a very important part of China and it is also a very beautiful and absorbing city with many of different cultures blending at here. It is my favorite city, I love Hong Kong.
